Clubs
Clubs
Submitted by JudithMeyer on Tue, 11/13/2007 - 17:10.In almost every major city (and many smaller ones) there is an Esperanto club. Some cities even have more than one club, geared towards different people, for example one club for young people and one club for older ones.
While every club is unique, you can generally expect to:
- improve your Esperanto through conversation, games and translation
- meet foreign speakers of Esperanto
- learn about happenings in the Esperanto world
- enjoy Esperanto culture, such as movies, music and literature
- combine forces to inform others about Esperanto and language diversity, organize courses and events
In order to find the Esperanto club that's closest to you, contact your national or regional Esperanto association. If you live in a rural area and there is no club near you, they might also know Esperanto speakers that live near you.
Warning: don't expect every Esperanto speaker to be part of a club and don't expect the national association to know every Esperanto speaker. Quite a few people learn Esperanto on their own and then use it mostly online because they are only interested in speaking Esperanto with people from foreign countries.
